Chief Technology Officer
Daniel Baker is the Chief Technology Officer for SATAVIA, with responsibility for managing technology innovation, development, and delivery. In addition to BSc degrees in computer science and biological science, Daniel has over twelve years’ corporate experience spanning the energy and environment sectors, and in contexts ranging from start-up companies to national government. His multi-disciplinary expertise encompasses strategic policy and regulation, product design and commercialisation, emissions trading, and environmental science, alongside software development, data science and scientific instrument design.
“What I love about SATAVIA is the spectrum of cool technology we work with – everything from 4-dimensional atmospheric datasets to cloud engineering with Kubernetes, and from Python parallelisation with Dask to running our very own customised numerical weather prediction model (WPM) on high-performance-compute in the cloud.”
